Agriculture

Agriculture is a major economic activity in Zimbabwe providing employment for 60-70 % of the country’s population and contributing 40 % of the total export earnings GDP. It is also a major consumer of the finite resource, water, hence it is key to eliminate inefficiencies which arise from bad practices and use of outdated techniques in farming. Climate change which has echoed the call to invest in research to produce more while harming the environment less and we believe technology in the form of blockchain, machine learning and smart irrigation can help achieve the resilience required.

Education

Access to decent learning facilities remains a big obstacle in grooming Zimbabwe’s future generation. Kids in rural areas still travel long distances to access learning facilities (some which are under equipped and staffed). Covid 19 has further highlighted the need to reimagine the education sector with those leading the way adopting virtual learning. While this model is difficult to roll out to the whole nation due to the finances required and poor network reception in some areas, we aim to adopt technologies already on the market tailor suit them to our current educational needs.

Mining

Shaft collapses have claimed countless lives in small scale mines where there are questionable safety protocols being practised. While the responsibility of safety lies with the mine owners, research driven companies such as us also have a role to play in making the working environment safer in an affordable manner.

Environmental Protection

Effects of anthropogenic activities on the environment tend to be negative in nature. With remote monitoring using sensors and satellites, we aim to be able to predict effects of pollution and devise strategies with governmental bodies such as EMA on how to mitigate the impacts of pollution.
